Children's Charity KidsCan has partnered with the Ministry for Vulnerable Children, Oranga Tamariki, for a six month pilot to target children living in severe hardship in Hamilton.
The kids at Mangere East Primary school laugh and grin as they rip into the freshly delivered boxes of muesli bars and baked beans.
They're just one of the 583 schools to be part of KidsCan's largest ever food delivery.
With some extremely cold and frosty starts during the winter months, it is so important that kids are warm, healthy and able to get to school in a position to learn.
This winter, we had a record number of our partner schools ordering raincoats and shoes for their students. It's great to know that they will be kept warm and dry.
